One of the largest monuments in Catalunya.

The fortress, built in the 18th century, covers an area of 32 hectares and has a capacity for six thousand people. It was used for military purposes until 1997 when it was opened to the public on a regular basis with guided tours. It is possible to visit from the different exterior spaces to the cisterns. As the castle is very large, there are different types of visits:

Individual visit

It follows a well-signposted route. (Duration between 45min and 1h) Reservations are not required.

The cathedral of water

This is an active visit with a guided tour of the fortress moat (2.500m) in off-road vehicles. It includes a visit to the underground galleries and navigation on board inflatable boats inside the cisterns of the Fortress. Children up to three years of age will travel in the vehicles without occupying a seat, seated on a responsible adult and must not enter the boats. They will be no entrance fee. The rest of the children will visit under the supervision of responsible adults and will not be allowed to go alone.

Persons affected by any of the following circumstances shall abstain: – Lack of mobility and strength in the lower and upper limbs – Being pregnant.

Nostàlgic Sant Ferran

This is a guided tour, with off-road vehicles, through the moat of the Fortress. The visit is similar to the Water Cathedral but without access to the underground spaces. Duration: 1:30 h. BOOKING ESSENTIAL (972 506 094).
