In Figueres, near Masos Can Sot and Mas el Brugué, you can discover and enjoy the Museu del Joguet de Catalunya with the whole family.
The museum exhibits more than 4,000 pieces and you will find games and toys that were played in ancient times: zoetropes, meccanoes, theatres, cardboard animals and horses, kitchens, balls, spinning tops, planes, cars, trains, dolls, puppets, magic apparatus, games for the blind, costumes, cut-outs, handlebars, soldiers, robots, steam engines, small bones, tricycles, scooters…
The toys are grouped by theme, and are also accompanied by photographs from different periods of children with their toys, so that visitors can see how they played years ago. Each toy has an explanatory card (name, date, manufacturer, origin, etc.), and in some cases some writings by well-known characters who reflect on specific toys.
Some of the toys had belonged to people like Anna Maria and Salvador Dalí, Federico García Lorca, Joan Miró, Carlos Fages de Climent, Joan Brossa…
It is a highly recommended activity that allows a walk through the evolution of toys. Can be enjoyed by all ages.
