We recommend going up to the Ermita of Santa Magdalena.
The Empordà sanctuary par excellence (17th century). Located in Terrades (Alt Empordà), it houses a collection of votive offerings and is one of the most devout shrines in the region, with many groups and organisations making offerings to the Virgin, the patron saint of sportsmen and women, every year. The sanctuary is located on a heavily wooded slope of the Santa Magdalena Valley, at an altitude of 400 metres.
At the rear there is an esplanade with parking and an area with tables and barbecues for outdoor lunches and picnics.
Once there, it is a good decision to go up to the Ermita de Santa Magdalena, located 570 metres above sea level, it was restored in the 15th century, it is surrounded by large rocks and from the top there is a beautiful view.
How to access the sanctuary?
To get there, take the tarmac road to the sanctuary of La Salut de Terrades, and from there continue on foot and take a well signposted path. It is a pleasant 30-minute walk. From the top, you can see the Albera Massif, Puig Neulós, Les Salines, among others, and also observe the Boadella reservoir.
